sudogamer back to the future competition

Films like games are great. We love em both here at Sudogamer but unfortunately when you mix the two you can have some seriously sad times. However here is a game that combines a classic movie trilogy (ahem) with point and click adventuring from the brains behind Sam & Max and Monkey Island. Luckily this potent mix isn’t powered by rubbish (garbage to our American listenership) and we have a beautiful digital copy of the the full series to give away, that’s right all five episodes!

To enter, all you need to do is:

  • Follow us on twitter
  • Tweet what you would do if you could travel in time. It doesn’t have to be gaming related and we will pick our favourite that makes us laugh, cry or Great Scott!
  • Finally, use hashtags #ifihadadelorean #sudogamer so we can find your entry.

That’s it!
The closing date for this competition is 02/02/2011

And don’t worry. As long as you hit that wire with the connecting hook at precisely 88mph the instant the lightning strikes the tower… everything will be fine.!

CoD: Black Ops Download Available Already!

call of duty black ops available for download

That’s right, 7 days from release date a group called ‘xbox360iso’ claim to have released a download of Call Of Duty: Black Ops.
Shame on anyone who downloads it, and hopefully they have programmed in something which backfires for the player who has an illegal copy (much like Arkham Asylum!)

That’s quite enough console-based news for this month.

Pro Evolution 2011 PC Demo – First Impressions & Download Link

Pro Evolution 2011 PC Demo 1

I share my thoughts having just spent an hour playing the new Pro Evolution demo on PC.

Having played the past few Fifas and Pro Evolutions, I’m afraid to say this doesn’t move the game on much from PES 2008.

Player movement

The player movement still feels very wooden and ‘staged’ in an ‘arcadey’ sort of way.  The player feel very ‘fixed’ in the directions you can move them, not the organic feel I’m used to, of Fifa 09-10.  Then there is still the usual quirk of players being ‘rooted’ to the spot for no reason when you make a long pass along the ground.  This demo of Pro Evolution 2010 also has some strange wooden ‘stuttery’ animations when going from a jog to a sprint, with the sprint animation not quite kicking-in when it should.

Graphics / Presentation

The graphics are not much (if any) of an improvement over the previous few versions of the game, on this PC demo of the game.  The settings (which can only be found by separately launching C:\Program Files (x86)\KONAMI\Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 DEMO\settings.exe only contact resolutions / aspect-ratio settings, and not the usually plethora of filtering / quality tweaks.

The menus are great, however, very quick and responsive compared to Fifa’s frustratingly slow system.

Battlefield 1943 silently released?

Battlefield 1943 released on PC

Edit: This is lies, sorry!

Battlefield 1943 has been released on the PC, it would seem.

The Windows version of last year’s online multiplayer hit reported for PC duty today, somewhat unceremoniously, popping into EA’s online store. After moving 1.5 million copies of the thing to PSN and XBLA players—making it the “best-selling download-only game on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade,” according to EA—someone got around to uploading the final version.

Call of Duty: Black Ops “Wager Mode”

New video showing a game mode called ‘wager mode’ – looks to be a fun take on the predictable online first-person shooter series, however encouraging a ‘credit’ system will surely be a target for ‘boosters’ and hackers. . Here’s hoping that’s not the case!

Fifa 11 to be ‘next-gen’ on PC

FIFA 11 next-gen on PC at last

As cringe-worthy as terms such as ‘next-gen’ are, if it means the Fifa 2011 will use the same physics, animation and lighting engine as the console versions I’ll be happy. Here’s hoping we finally get The Arena during the loading screens too!

“The EA SPORTS FIFA franchise is committed to investing and innovating for PC and this is a watershed moment,” said Executive Producer Kaz Makita. “We are delivering to FIFA 11 PC the high quality gameplay, innovative game modes and stunning graphics that have made FIFA the highest rated sports game on the PlayStation3 and Xbox 360 and winner of over 50 sports game of the year awards.”

Half Life 2: Episode 3 rumour image. updated – teh fake :(

Sudogamer Half Life Episode 3 Rumour Header

After the cancellation of the Portal 2 event for a “surprise” – now this image surfaces. . .

edit: and turns out to be fake. .! Ah well, the PC gaming community can relax once again. Just to mix things up; there are some screen grabs of (probably fake) emails from Gabe Newell also doing the rounds.  One jokingly suggesting L4D2 Episode 1 (what a horrible thought), and another saying it isn’t episode 3.

The episode 3 rumours are flying once again with the circulation of this image (click to make large):

[singlepic id=137 w=320 h=240 mode=web20 float=center]

..and without going all X-Files, perhaps most controversially is that if you run the image through Photoshop, and mess with curves/levels you can more or less make out the shape of Gman’s face?

[singlepic id=138 w=320 h=240 mode=web20 float=center]

Oooh, spooky? What can it all mean? Surely Episode 3 is a dead cert, now?

Let us know what you think in the comments box, all speculation welcome! :)

Valve to make surprise announcement June 14th?

Valve surprise announcement?

A note dropped in our box to say:

Aperture Science is pleased to inform you that we have partnered with Valve to announce the gala CANCELLATION of the June 14 Portal 2 event at the Regal Theater. The event will be replaced by a surprise. And even though the cancellation of the event certainly counts as a surprise, we are pleased to further announce that the cancellation of the event is not THE surprise. However, per International treaties regarding the definition of the word “surprise”, of which both Aperture Science and Valve are signatories, the time, date and content of the actual surprise will only become available as you experience the surprise.

If you’d like to ask fruitless questions about the E3 Portal 2 surprise or, more fruitfully, schedule an appointment to attend a Portal 2 screening at the Valve booth during E3, please contact Valve’s Special Envoy to Surprises, Doug Lombardi.

Thank you for <<RECORD SCRATCH!!!>>

PS: The surprising record scratch is also not the surprise.

What could it all mean?

Half Life 2: Ep 3 – Return Of Teh Freemans?

L4D3 – More soul-less zombie shootings?!

EA launches Tiger Woods Online

Posted on : 26-03-2010 | By : SDG_CMC | In : news

EA Sports has officially launched Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online.

The free-to-play, browser-based golf game is still technically in beta, but is now open to all. You can sign up and give it a go at the game’s website.

The game boasts single, multiplayer and tournament modes and can be suspended and resumed at any time you like.

This is EA’s next bet in free-to-play PC gaming, after Battlefield Heroes and card strategy game BattleForge. How EA will make money out of Tiger Woods Online isn’t quite clear at the moment; the pricing model doesn’t seem to be implemented yet, although EA has mentioned both micro-transactions and a “tiered subscription” in the past.

Fore!
